The RO plant will enhance the quality of the water already being supplied to the community via a small town water supply system constructed by Gold Fields Ghana for the community in 2012.

The project was undertaken at a cost of US$145,000 to provide the over 500 residents and surrounding communities with clean potable water.

The new RO plant, which was constructed at a cost of US$50, 000, has the capacity to treat 2,500 litres of water an hour.

The treated water is  supplied  to communal stand pipes at vantage points and the quality of the water is said to be better than bottled water.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer  P2W, Mr Raanan Dinur, expressed his company’s commitment to the development of the communities within the catchment area.

The Community Affairs Manager at Gold Field Ghana’s Tarkwa Mine, Mr Mubashir Dari, thanked P2W on behalf of Gold Fields Ghana, and reiterated the importance that the company placed on ensuring stakeholder communities had access to safe water.

Receiving the key to the facility, the representative of the Abekoase Chief,  Nana Kwame Adentwi,  thanked the companies for the support extended to his people.
