Responsibility towards children non-negotiable
The Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, Most Rev. John Bonaventure Kwofie, has called on parents to rise up to their responsibilities in educating their children as primary educators.
He said the responsibilities given to parents and families by God was non-negotiable and could not be taken over by any institution.

Delivering a sermon on “Family Life” at the Holy Spirit Cathedral, Adabraka on Saturday, October 5, 2019, to mark the Accra Archdiocesan Feast Day celebration of the St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Society, Most Rev Kwofie asked parents not to shy away from their responsibilities, saying that they had a moral responsibility towards their children.
He also asked parents to show utmost interest in what teachers taught their children in school
Family life
Most Rev Kwofie stated that the family was the beginning and basis of human society, stressing that “when a family gets rotten, society also gets rotten”.
He said the family was the foundation of society and also nourished society as it was from families that citizens were born.
That, he said, was the reason why parents must be interested in the type of education schools were offering their children.
He said parents should not be content with paying school fees of their wards but must be interested in knowing what children were being taught in schools.
He noted that there were some parents who never engaged their children about what they were taught in school adding that it was an honour to show interest in children’s academic work.
State
Most Rev Kwofie said the state had the responsibility to consult parents and families in matters concerning the education of their wards and must make the effort to listen to parents because they (parents) were the primary educators of their wards.
He said the State should not be allowed to play politics with the education of children, and cited the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) as an example of a wrong educational policy.
He urged the educational authorities to acknowledge that they had wrongly introduced an education policy which was not good for children.
Feast Day
On the Feast day celebration, Most Re Kwofie asked the members to emulate St. Theresa of the Child Jesus’ virtues of humility, simplicity and self-sacrifice, urging them to train the youth for a better future.
He said without that the future might be bleak for them.
He urged them to continue to do little things in extraordinary ways by extending their support also to the Convents and Novitiates.
On her part, Opanin Georgina Addo Tawiah, pledged to work together for the growth of the society.

The Archbishop inducted into office the newly elected Archdiocesan Executives and urged them to work in unity and love for the growth of the Society.

Also inducted into office were Paul Baah, Lawrence Appiadu, Samuel Asare and Rony Asare as organisers.
