Respect non-Muslims — Maulvi Yawson

Maulvi YawsonThe acting Ameer and Missionary in charge of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission in Ghana, Alhaji Maulvi Muhammad Yusuf Yawson, has urged Muslims to respect and protect the lives and properties of non-Muslims.
He explained that they should consider as sacred and inviolable the honour, lives and properties of fellow human beings.

Alhaji Lawson, who addressed the 20th annual Eastern Regional Conference of the mission at Akim Oda at the weekend, condemned  all forms of terrorist attacks, as well as persecution perpetrated against  fellow human beings in the name of religion.

He explained that Islam meant obedience, submission and peaceful co-existence and so fanaticism in every form begot and bred terror.

The one-day regional conference had as its theme,  “Placing Religion First in Life — The only means of Attaining Eternal Peace.”

The acting Ameer reiterated that Islam taught its adherents to lead morally, intellectually and spiritually upright lives.

He, however, said some believers were practising the religion in such a way that it was creating terror among people and dragging the image of Islam in the mud.

He called for co-operation among the various religious groups, since monopoly in trade, commerce, religion, ethnicity and politics generated hatred, which also bred terror.

Alhaji Lawson appealed to Muslims to endeavour to become embodiment of virtue and high morals, and practise the true teachings of Islam.

“We should gear our academic pursuits and scientific research towards enhancing social values and creating an environment devoid of hatred, acrimony and moral decadence that is engulfing the world.”
