Reject all forms of mob justice - Rev Quaye

The General Overseer of World of the Life Christian Centre (WLCC), Reverend Dr Isaac Quaye, has urged Ghanaians to reject all forms of mob justice because it is against human rights.

Speaking at an ordination service for 14 pastors at the WLCC Headquarters in Accra last Sunday, he said mob justice did not only show disrespect for justice delivery but was also an indictment on the conscience of the public.

“Instant justice or mob justice has never helped, it will never help and it has never reduced or stopped crime anywhere. Everybody deserves the right be tried through the due legal process of our country,” he stated.

His comments come on the heels of the gruesome murder of Major Maxwell Adam Mahama by some irate mob at Denkyira-Obuasi in May this year.

On June 29, 2017, during the 35th remembrance service held in honour of the three High Court judges who were murdered in 1982, the President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Mr Benson Nutsukpui, urged Ghanaians to stem out vigilantism and mob justice and rather embrace the rule of law for the sustenance of the country’s democracy.

Ordination service

The ordination service was officiated by the immediate past Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG), the Very Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey.

Rev Dr Quaye advised the newly ordained pastors to inspire hope and build lives through Jesus Christ.

“Preach Christ, walk the talk and be an example for your generation,’’ he said.

In a sermon, the General Overseer of the House of Faith Ministries, Rev. Alfred Nyamekyeh, urged people to love one another as stated in the Bible.

“Even love your enemies as yourself and pray for those who spite you,’’ he said.

He bemoaned teachings in the church that brought about enmity and animosity among Christians.

“Some Christian centres have been turned into curses centres where people are turned against one another and love is relegated to the background,’’ he said.
