Rawlings not mediating Zanetor, Herbert child custody fight

The office of former President Jerry Rawlings has said it was not true he has stepped in to mediate the legal tussle between his daughter and parliamentary aspirant, Dr Zanetor Rawlings and businessman Herbert Mensah.

The denial followed a story at the weekend by Classfmonline.com to the effect that Mr Rawlings was attempting to resolve the spat.

But in a rejoinder to the post Monday, an aide to the former president, Kobina Andoh Amoakwa, said Mr Rawlings was making no such move and that “Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is very capable of handling issues concerning her private life”.

The matter came to the public following Mr. Mensah’s Facebook post that said he had resorted to the courts to resolve the issue after his entreaties to see the children were allegedly ignored.

Below is the rejoinder in full

RE: RAWLINGS MEDIATES CHILD CUSTODY FIGHT

I write in my capacity as an aide to His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings to express my concern over your publication of Saturday, November 28, 2015 titled “JJ Mediates child custody fight”.

I wish to state that the contents of your publication are totally false and a figment of your media house’s imagination.

The allegation you make concerns a matter currently in court so you are hereby advised to be very circumspect in drawing the person of His Excellency Jerry John Rawlings into the matter without recourse to him or his office.

Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings is very capable of handling issues concerning her private life and your media house is cautioned to desist from putting across assumptions, innuendoes and outright lies, as the truth with particular reference to His Excellency Jerry Rawlings.
