The communities are Nyanshegu, Gumani, Ward "K" and  Kalpohini. Items such as mattresses and home appliances running into thousands of Ghana cedis were submerged by the floods.

The victims spent long hours scooping water out of their rooms but had to put up temporarily with their friends and relatives.

The Sagnarigu District Co-ordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Sulemana Musah, told the Daily Graphic in Tamale that there were no relief items immediately but gave an assurance that the organisation would liaise with stakeholders to bring quick relief to the victims.

Mr Musah entreated the government to find ways of reconstructing drains to reduce the effects of rains in the affected areas.

He advised residents to avoid building in waterways.

The co-ordinator further indicated that a report was being compiled on the situation and would be forwarded to the appropriate quarters in Accra.

Meanwhile, some of the victims have appealed to the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly, the NADMO and other stakeholders to help bring relief quickly to them.
