Queenmother receives award

The President of the Queenmothers Foundation of Ghana, Nana Ama Serwaa Bonsu I, has received an award for her contribution to cultural heritage at the Business Executive Excellence Award 2015.

Organised by the Business Executive Magazine, a leading international monthly magazine, the award was in recognition of her contribution towards the empowerment of other women and girls.

The citation accompanying the award ‘Best contribution to cultural heritage’  said, “Through your presidency of the Queenmothers Foundation, you have championed the empowerment of women, pursued human rights and environmental change and run programmes to alleviate the plight of the under privileged, all within the context of protecting Ghana’s cultural heritage”.

 

Background to foundation

The Queenmothers Foundation of Ghana, a registered non-governmental organisation, was founded in 1999 to foster unity and compassion to help improve the lives of the underprivileged and vulnerable in society,

It is made up of queenmothers form across the country.

Other awards

In all 32 individuals, companies and institutions were awarded for their contributions to the socio-economic development of the country and beyond.
