According to him, when women are put in leadership positions, it helps to increase productivity.

He has, therefore, called for equal opportunities for both female and male students at all levels of education in the country.

Inauguration

Mr Aryeetey made the remarks when he inaugurated a 20-seater toilet facility, washing bay and drying area, and 20 cubicle washroom facility for the Odorgonno Senior High School in Accra.

The organisation also drilled two mechanised boreholes, renovated the boys shower as well as painting the boys and girls dormitories for the school.

Women’s role

Mr Aryeetey said women and girls played a crucial role in the development of every nation and that giving women equal opportunity to compete with men would help to advance the development of the country.

“We need to work hard to include more ladies in whatever we are doing”, Mr Aryeetey said, noting that “females cannot be left out in the development process”.

He expressed the worry that for some time now, women had been sidelined for long and that there was the need to reverse the trend.

Purpose

He said the organisation constructed the facility for the girls’ dormitory in order to lessen the burden of the female students struggling to get access to water to bath and wash their clothes.

Mr Aryeetey pledged that Cummins would continue to support the school to enable it to meet the needs of its students.

He, however, urged both the students and staff of the school to maintain the facilities well.

Commendation

The Headmistress of the school, Mrs Shine Ofori, in her remarks commended Cummins for the gesture and said the facilities would be put to good in order to enhance sanitation practices in the school.

She said the facilities would bring a great relief to the students, adding that both students and teachers in the school struggle to get water for use.

According to her, the gesture would help to improve academic performance in the school since both teachers and students would now have access to potable water on the campus.
