Prof Okoe Amartey appointed UPSA V.C.
The Governing Council of the University of Professional Studies Accra (UPSA) has appointed Professor Abednego Feehi Okoe Amartey as the new Vice Chancellor of the university for a four-year term with effect from January 1, 2017.

A release issued in Accra and signed by the Registrar, Dr Seidu Mohammed Mustapha, said the appointment was made at a special meeting of the University’sGoverning Council held on August 25, 2016 after the Council had received a report from the seven-member Search Committee which unanimously recommended him for the position.
Prof. Abednego Okoe takes over from the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Prof. Joshua Alabi, whose tenure of office comes to an end on December 31, 2016.
Prof. Okoe is the sitting Pro-Vice-Chancellor of the University. Prior to that appointment, he served as the Dean of Faculty of Management Studies from 2014-2016, Head of Department for Marketing Department for two consecutive terms from 2008-2014, Head of Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Unit from (2006-2008).
He also served as a member of several statutory committees, i.e., Academic Board, Appointment and Promotion Committee, Executive Committee and host of other ad-hoc committees of the University. He has also chaired a number of these committees, that is Faculty Appointment and Review Committee, Examination Committee, Junior and Senior Staff Appointment Committee to mention a few.
Academic laurels
Prof. Okoe is an Associate Professor in Management at the Department of Marketing. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Business Administration from Universidad Central de Nicaragua and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the Swiss Management Centre,
Switzerland (2009-2014).
He also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Marketing (2012) and Master of Business Administration (MBA)-Marketing Option (2003), both from the University of Ghana Business School (UGBS).
Additionally, he holds an Advanced Certificate in Marketing (CIM – UK) and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with Sociology (1992) from the University of Ghana.
He had his Advanced Levels Certificate at Prempeh College, Kumasi (1988) and Ordinary Levels Certificate at Aquinas Secondary School, Osu (1986).
Scholarly articles, professional associations
He also belongs to several professional associations and has consistently served as a review panellist for CIMG Award nominees.
Prof. Okoe has an international reputation and has attended and participated in several national and international conferences and has to his credit, in excess of 60 scholarly publications, refereed conference papers and workshops. He has most of this scholarly publications in reputable and ranked journals, including Emerald, Sage and Taylor and Francis.
His papers are indexed in Scopus, Proquest, Ebscohost, Worldcat Ulrich’s, SSCI, JCR, CABI and ASCI-Database, among others. He has just been named in the prestigious Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence 2016 for the paper he co-authored "Consumers' attitude towards social media advertising and their behavioral response: the moderating role of corporate
reputation" published in the Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing 2015 Vol. 9 No.4.
Career
Prof Okoe was among the first batch of lecturers employed to augment the staff strength of the University when the degree programme was introduced. Prior to joining the University, he had worked in a number of reputable institutions, including, All Nations University
College, KNUST Commonwealth Executive MBA Programme, Central University College, University College of Management Studies, Primus Management and Marketing Consultants, Value Added Tax (VAT) Services (now, Ghana Revenue Authority) and Fan Milk Limited.
Prof. Okoe is an ardent charismatic Christian and an ordained minister who worships with the Revival Outreach Church. Prof. Okoe is married with three children. — GB
