Princess Marie Hospital lacks doctors
Seven incubators and other medical equipment donated to the Princess Marie Louise (PML) Hospital by corporate bodies are not being utilised because the health facility lacks medical doctors.

The situation has greatly affected effective delivery of health care to children at the hospital.
The Board Chairman of the hospital, Very Rev. Father Andrew Campbell, announced this when the Korea and Ghana Development Firm, a real estate company, donated some items to the hospital last Friday.
The donation was made up of four table top fridges, baby clothing, detergents, assorted food items and drinks, all valued at GH¢30,000.
He said the facility needed about $600,000 to expand its infrastructure in order to effectively deliver health care to children and, therefore, appealed to the government and corporate bodies to support it.
Challenges of the hospital
“Our surgical laboratory, pharmacy, mortuary and other departments have either been overstretched or broken down. We need to put these up to save lives. The hospital has successfully done 906 surgeries so far this year, but we are handicapped in terms of structures and medical doctors. Meanwhile, ther are many doctors in other hospitals,” he said.
Rev. Fr. Campbell said there was the need to prioritise the health needs of children, since the future of the country depended on them.
Social responsibility
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company, Mr Jojoe Dines, who presented the items, said the gesture formed part of the company’s corporate social responsibility.
“We are very passionate about children as part of our social responsibility. It is our vision to make sure that a chunk of our annual allocation for social responsibility projects is channelled to the education and health care of children,” he said.
He pledged the company’s commitment to support the hospital, especially during its 90th anniversary next year.
