President wishes WASSCE candidates well

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sent special best wishes to all West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) candidates.

In all, 375,737 candidates will be writing the WASSCE, which begins today.
However, 313,838 candidates from the public senior high schools (SHSs) and 19,684 candidates in the Ghana Education Service (GES) Technical and Vocational Education Division are the beneficiaries under the free SHS programme.
The Technical Exams for TVET candidates, which is jointly organised by the Technical Examinations Unit of the GES and the National Board for Professional and Technician Examinations (NABPTEX), commences on August 3, 2020.
"I wish all the students the best of luck and Godspeed in their examination and I send best wishes to all final-year senior high school students, who will, from today, Monday, July 20, take the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE)," the message said.

Key to future
The President said every Ghanaian acknowledged that education was the key to the future of the country, adding: "We, therefore, must do everything possible, even in the midst of a pandemic, to guarantee the prospects of our youth, protect their potential and, thereby, help preserve our collective future."
Enhanced protocols
President Akufo-Addo said just as had been done over the course of the last four weeks since their return to school, "I continue to urge everyone associated with the conduct of this year’s WASSCE, i.e. teaching and non-teaching staff, invigilators and students, to abide by the enhanced hygiene, mask wearing and social distancing protocols they have become accustomed to."
He said those protocols continued to remain "our weapons in the fight to defeat COVID-19".
