President informed of burial rites for Okwahuhene

A delegation of Kwahu Chiefs and Elders have called on the President John Dramani Mahama to officially inform him of the death of Daasebre Akuamoah Boateng II, Okwahuhene.

The delegation invited the President and the government to the weeklong royal funeral rites scheduled to take place at Abene, the traditional capital of the Kwahus from Sunday, December 7, 2014 to Sunday, December 14 2014.

The delegation used the opportunity to thank the President for development projects currently going on in the Kwahu area and appealed to him to help complete the road from Akwasiho to Twenedurase.

According to the delegation, the road which is currently under construction was started by a native of Akwasiho single-handedly.

In his response, the President expressed his condolences on behalf of the government to the people of Kwahu.

 He paid tribute to the late Daasebre for ensuring peace and development during his fourty-two years reign. 

Mr Mahama said he had not forgotten the promise to construct the Nkawkaw -Atibie road he made to the late Okwahuhene in 2011.

Nana Onini Afari II-Benkumhene of Kwahu led the delegation which included the Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi Boasiako Sekyere, the Chief Director of the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs,Mr. David Yaro and four dsitrict chief executives from Kwahu as well as the head of the Abetifi communities in Accra and Koforidua.
