President commends E.P. Church

The President, Mr John Dramani Mahama, has commended the self-help spirit of the E.P. Church in establishing schools all over the country to supplement government’s efforts at providing the citizenry with education.

He also praised the Dzelukope E.P. Church and members of the community for the pioneering role they played in receiving the Bremen Missionaries in 1853 after their first stopover in Peki in 1847.

He implored them to continue to accommodate all manner of people who had collectively helped Dzelukope to continue to thrive after the destructive effects of sea erosion had negatively affected commercial activities at Keta.

These were contained in a message delivered on his behalf by Mr Seth Klaye, Executive Director of the Precious Mineral Marketing Company, at the inauguration of a committee to plan the 125th anniversary celebration of the E.P. Church at Dzelukope.

Speaking at the inaugural church service, Togbi Dzelu IV, Dufia of Dzelukope, pledged his support for the development projects being undertaken in the town, which include the construction of a wall around the local E.P. School, the re-roofing of a six-classroom block, and the construction of a manse.

A senior Presbyter, Gobah Tengey, in his message to the 70-member committee, said they were being asked to assist in various fields to uplift the image of the town, the church and the school.

Rev. E. M. K Agbele, the Parish Pastor, inaugurated the committee and asked members to ensure that all their projects, including the establishment of the education fund and the construction of the manse, were completed on time.
