Praire Volta generated $5 million from first harvest

He said over the next five years, the goal of the company was to put 6,000 hectares of land under cultivation, 3,000 hectares as its base farm and use outgrowers to cultivate the next 3,000 hectares.

Mr Anderson said the company would provide seed and agronomy services for the farmers, buy the produce from them and market it under its brand, “Brand Volta”, at an estimated cost of $27,320,200.

He said that would restructure existing loans of $6,320,200 and use the balance of $21,000,000 to buy new assets and develop irrigation infrastructure.

He said the company would require about $5,000,000 to expand to 2,000 hectares.

Mr Ablakwah said the government was committed to ensuring that the company continued to achieve success.  – GNA
