The three - Emmanuel Laryea, 32, Nicholas Nortey, 25, and Stephen Anorful, 48 - are said to have allegedly assisted a five-man gang of armed robbers to attack and rob the company of valuable items.

The names of the three suspects came up, after the leader of the robbers, Hafiz Ali, was arrested and mentioned Laryea as one of the workers who aided them to attack the company.

Laryea, who was arrested after Ali gave out his name, also mentioned Nicholas Nortey, 25, and Stephen Anorful, 48, as his accomplices.

Narrating the incident at a press briefing in Accra yesterday, the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP), Mr Christian Tetteh Yohonu, said after the robbers had bolted with the booty they made at the Guinness depot, they proceeded to Bortianor and robbed Petrol Bay Filling Station of an amount of GH¢ 2,000.

He said the police pursued them, which led to the arrest of Ali, with four suspected members of the gang currently on the run.

After the arrest of Ali, Mr Yohonu said, he mentioned the name of Laryea during interrogations as the insider who directed them to where they could get the money.

He said the police went to the house of Laryea and arrested him, and that during investigations, Laryea confessed that he and his colleagues at the workplace, planned the whole attack with the robbers.

Asked why Laryea, Nortey, Anorful planned the attack, Mr Yohonu said, the three claimed they were not satisfied with the salary they were being paid by the company.

He said the suspects would be arraigned before the court after the police were through with their investigations.

According to Mr Yohonu, Ali mentioned the names of his accomplices currently on the run as Muntari, Jelil, Daddy, Musah and Zoobi.
