Police mount signposts at locations

The Police Administration, in collaboration with Olive 360 Company Limited, has launched a nationwide exercise to provide signposts for all police stations in the country.

The administration will also erect educational billboards at vantage points across the country which will give information to the public in its efforts to give the police a unique branding in line with the reforms in the service.

Unveiling signpost

Unveiling the first signpost in front  of the police headquarters in Accra last Thursday, the Director General of Operations, Commissioner of Police (COP), Mr John Kudalor, said there were hardly any signs indicating the presence of police stations and posts in the communities, thus making it difficult for strangers to locate the stations in times of need.

He explained that it was in pursuit of making police facilities more conspicuous and accessible to the public that his outfit embarked on the project with Olive 360 and other partners.

Protection

The director general said the implementation of the visibility policing concept, the Formed Police Unit, revival of the Marine Police Unit and the public confidence re-affirmation programme were all geared towards protecting the public and bringing policing on their doorstep.

Essence of Police

COP Kudalor indicated that the presence of the police in the society could not be overemphasised as their role included giving protection to people during demonstrations, festivals, funerals, marriages and in business transactions.

Corporate organisations

He commended Olive 360 for their continuous support to the police over the years, including mounting of shelters at all ECOWAS approved police barriers in the country.

The director general called on other corporate organisations, institutions, NGOs and philanthropists to support the project to succeed.
