Pantang Hospital receives support from Global Peace Centre

The Men’s Fellowship of the Global Peace Christian Centre (GPCC) last Saturday donated a consignment of items worth GH¢8,000 to the Pantang Psychiatric Hospital in Accra.

The items included stethoscopes, weighing scales, blood pressure kits, armpit and digital thermometers, examination gloves, cakes of soap, gallons of detergents, stationery, toiletries and loaves of bread.

The donation was in response to a request from the authorities of the hospital to the church following enquiries from the church regarding its needs.

The donation was part of the church’s annual and regular donations to the less privileged and vulnerable groups in society.

Annual charity

The Senior Pastor of the GPCC, the Very Rev. Henry Ampomah-Boateng, and a member of the Men’s Fellowship, Mr Alex Agyenim-Boateng, presented the items.

The Very Rev. Ampomah-Boateng said the church was also moved to make the donation by the difficult situation the patients were in.

He said as part of Christian teachings, followers of Christ were required to care for the poor and needy, “as such the donation is in fulfilment of Scripture.”

The delegation from the church toured sections of the hospital and interacted with and prayed for patients on admission.

Call

The Very Rev. Ampomah-Boateng, who was moved by what he saw, called on Christians and benevolent organisations to constantly support medical facilities in the country and care for the poor in society.

“As a church, we will do our part. But we can achieve more when other churches and corporate institutions also make donations,” he said.

The Leader of the Men’s Fellowship of the GPCC, Mr Kwame Boakye, said the group would sustain its assistance to the hospital and the disadvantaged in society.

Appreciation

A Principal Officer at the hospital, Mr Richard Dzomeku, on behalf of the hospital, thanked the church for its support, which he said came at a time the hospital was in critical need.

He said the hospital was battling with numerous challenges, including the payment of water and electricity bills and delays in government subvention.

He appealed to corporate institutions and churches to support the hospital to enable it to meet its basic needs, as well as feed the inmates.
