To avert any eventuality, Dr Otabil made a positive declaration for prosperity, peace and development for the country.

The congregation, already in a fasting and prayer session as part of the “Spiritual Emphasis” month, interceded on behalf of the nation against military intervention, bloodbath and bad decisions that would affect the unity and stability of the country, especially from anybody from the opposition or in the government.

Dr Otabil, who told the congregation in his sermon that he was not that type of church leader who prophesied anytime he prayed for the country, said he got a sense of something ill befalling the country within his spirit.

For that reason, he said, he felt the need for fervent prayers to intercede on behalf of the country.

He said he had a sense of heaviness in his spirit concerning the destiny of Ghana.

According to Dr Otabil, he felt that there was something heavy ready to fall upon the nation and cautioned that “if we don’t take charge of that, we will be in a different state a month from now”.

“First and foremost, we are going to pray for our nation Ghana. We are going to make declarations,” he urged the congregation.

He subsequently led the congregation in prayers and asked them to make a positive declaration that “it will be well with us; that there will be no war, no bloodshed and no dispersal of citizens. The peace of God will remain upon this nation”.

He prayed that the destiny of Ghana would not be left “in the hands of politicians, presidents, parliamentarians, ministers of state, deputy ministers of state to serial callers, party communicators. They will not determine the outcome of this nation”.

“We take power in the name of Jesus; we take the government; we take the rulership from their hands in the name of Jesus and we decree upon the nation that it shall be well with us.

“And we make this declaration that there shall be no civil war in Ghana, no military takeover, no bloodshed.

“We need to take note that Elijah was just like us and he came from Tishbi, which is a village not found on any map till date, but because he prayed earnestly, he was able to make a declaration about the destiny of his country and his declaration shaped the destiny of his country,” he declared.
