Ntiamoah, Ghana Hope foundations support New Abirem Hospital

Ntiamoah Foundation, a non-governmental organisation, in collaboration with US-based Ghana Hope Foundation, has donated 50 electric beds and 57 mattresses valued at GH¢1,159,990.50 to the New Abirem Government Hospital in the Birim North District in the Eastern Region.

The Project Coordinator of Ntiamoah Foundation, Mr Godwin Yao Atidiga, who made the presentation, said his outfit had already donated an ambulance to the hospital and also adopted the facility’s female ward and equipped it with beds, pillows and bed sheets in addition to regular maintenance of the building.

He said his outfit had also provided an X’ray machine, operating furniture, operating lamps as well as washing machines for the newly constructed operating theatre.

Mr Atidiga said through the timeless efforts of its partners, the Ghana Hope Foundation, his outfit was working relentlessly to help the New Abirem Government Hospital to become one of the best health facilities in the country.

He directed that 15 of the beds and mattresses should be given to four health centres and four community-based health planning and services (CHPS) compounds at Afosu, Akuase, Tweapease, Nkwarteng, Awuana Praso, Old Abirem, Kyekyenku and Okaikrom to improve health delivery at the facilities.

The Public Relations Officer of Ntiamoah Foundation, Mr Shiva Oppong Banahene, said his outfit had been organising periodic free surgeries for people suffering from many ailments during which American specialist doctors were brought in to carry out the surgical operations.

The surgeries, he stressed, created a platform for Ghanaian doctors at the hospital to study a lot from their more experienced foreigners.

The Medical Superintendent in-charge of the hospital, Dr Alexander Osei-Bonsu, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the donors and promised to put them to good use for the benefit of the patients.

He said the collaboration between the hospital and the two foundations had greatly benefited the facility as it had received many medical equipment and consumables from them.

Dr Osei-Bonsu said the donation of the electric beds had come at an opportune time as the beds in the female ward were old and outmoded, adding that the modern electric beds would help patients to recover quickly.
