Ntiamoah Foundation donates to Akwadum D/A School

The Ntiamoah Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has re-equipped the Akwadum District Assembly Model Basic School at New Abirem in the Eastern Region with 30 computers and furniture at a cost of GH¢33,000.

The foundation provided the school with the laboratory and 20 computers in 2006 for practical training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) but with time the machines broke down.

The school’s Parent-Teacher Association renovated the laboratory to pave the way for the NGO to re-equip it with the computers.

Inauguration

Inaugurating the refurbished ICT laboratory at a ceremony at New Abirem last Thursday, the Executive Director of Ntiamoah Foundation, Ms Mercy Quansah Ansah, said the NGO realised that the lack of computers could affect practical teaching and learning of ICT.

She said with the help of the founder of the NGO, Mr R. K. A. Asante, and his board, funds were made available for the refurbishment of the ICT laboratory.

Ms Quansah Ansah advised the staff and pupils of the school to put the computers to good use and urged the PTA to ensure their regular maintenance for them to last longer.

The Project Officer of Ntiamoah Foundation, Mr Shiva Oppong Banahene, said the foundation would need a report on the state of the laboratory and the computers at the end of every academic term from the school to ascertain how the facility was being used.

Computers

He also advised the teachers not to prevent the children from using the computers since they were purposely brought to them.

The Birim North District Director of Education, Mr Isaac Okyere, commended the Ntiamoah Foundation for its commitment to the education and health sector in the district.

He noted with pride that Birim North was adjudged the overall best out of the 33 municipalities and districts in the Eastern Region in the 2019 Basic Education Certificate Examination.

The Head teacher of the school, Mr Daniel Hackenburg Tetteh, praised the Ntiamoah Foundation for its continuous support for the school.

Mr Tetteh, also known as Nii Tetteh Cobblah Ahudzo I, who is the chief of Avenor, Accra, promised to ensure that the computers were properly taken care of.
