The party has strategically deferred opening of nominations for the Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency, a territory ruled by the National Democratic Congress' majority leader in parliament, Alban Bagbin, since 1993.

With all attention on Wa Central as the main battle ground where five candidates are vying for the slot, the constituency poll has rightly attracted huge media coverage, including even from beyond the region.

Mahama Ishaq, the party's parliamentary candidate in the 2012 general elections, is in a contest with Janet Bibii, Hadi Bawa, Issahaku Moomin Tahiru and Osman Abdul-Hamid for a seat the party is seeking to turn its own for the first time.

In Wa Central, 661 delegates are expected to vote to elect the party's candidate.

In all, 24 persons were cleared by the vetting committee to run for parliamentary candidacy, with former deputy Attorney General, Ambrose Dery, and Jesse Sung Kpieta going unopposed at Nandom and Jirapa constituencies respectively.

Others in the race are Anthony Karbo and Donteah Bilson (Laura), Amidu Chinnia and Ridwan Abass Daud for Sissala East; Patrick Adams, Braimah Alhassan Kantong and George Hikah Benson for Sissala West; and Adams Nuhu Timbile and Kuusongno Daniel Dari for Wa West.

The rest are Bayon Godfrey Tangu, Daud Ahmed Hudeen and Yakubu Salifu for Wa East; Bagonluri Lwanga Saanyeh and Issah Abdul-Majeeb for Daffiama/Bussie/Issa; Bright Yelviel-Dong Baligi, Delle Donpaala Stephen and John Dough Baloro for Lambussie..

On the side of the rather peaceful processes across the constituencies, business-minded persons have sought to reap from the euphoria as they trade party paraphernalia of different make around the voting grounds.
