NAGRAT bares teeth over special classes for promotional exams

The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is not happy with regional and district directors of education and has asked them to desist from issuing official cover letters to organisations and institutions organising special classes for teachers due to write their promotional examinations.

It also called on the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) to sanction anybody who took advantage of the promotion exams to fleece teachers of the meagre salaries.

A statement signed and issued by the General Secretary of the NAGRAT, Mr Samuel Frank Dadzie, said, “the organisers are charging exorbitant fees, where in some cases teachers are being compelled to pay as much as GH¢100.00 per session”.

“In some cases the Regional Directorate of Education have sent personal invitation letters to the eligible teachers for interviews,” it said.

“We would like to remind teachers that the Ghana Education Service has stated the scope of the exams as what pertains in the face to face interview. It includes knowledge of the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service (GES), Educational Policies, Education Management and Administration, History of Education, Contemporary Educational issues and Assessment and Evaluation,” it added.
