MTN Ghana donates to Chief Imam towards 2017 Eid ul-Fitr celebration

MTN Ghana on Wednesday donated Gh₵3,000 and some assorted items to the National Chief Imam, Dr. Sheikh Usumanu Nuhu Sharabutu, towards the celebration of this year’s Eidul Fitr.

The items include 10 bags of rice, 10 boxes of mineral water, two cartons of vegetable oil, 10 packs of soft drinks, airtime worth Gh₵ 500.00, and a ram.

Speaking at a brief ceremony to present the items Mr Abbad Reda, Chief Information Officer of MTN said the donation forms part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the Muslim community.

He said MTN for ten consecutive years has supported the celebration and gave the assurance that it will continue to give back to communities through CSR to make the lives of customers better.

He said MTN in line with its vision of leading the delivery of a bold new digital world will carry out data activation at vantage points during the celebration to give customers an experiential feel of the benefits of their internet and data services.

Mr Reda said the company through the MTN Ghana Foundation has carried out extensive corporate social interventions in areas of healthcare, education and improvement of economic livelihood across the country.

Receiving the items, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Shaributu expressed appreciation at the kind gesture of the telecom network towards the Muslim community and prayed for the continued success of the MTN company.

He thanked MTN Ghana for its support adding that such gestures will help strengthen the company's relationship with the Muslim community.
