MTN distributes 10 incubators to 15 health institutions

MTN Ghana Foundation has distributed 10 incubators and five ventilators at a total cost of GH¢125,000 to 15 selected public health institutions in the country.
The donation forms part of the social responsibility of the company to partner with government to promote quality healthcare in the country.

The beneficiaries are Ridge, Achimota, Tema, Korle-Bu in the Greater Accra Region, as well as Goaso and Sunyani government hospitals in the Brong Ahafo Region.

Others included Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Suntreso hospital in the Ashanti Region, Akuse in the Eastern Region and the Nandom, Bawku and Savelugu Hospitals in the three northern regions.

Presenting one incubator and a ventilator each at separate ceremonies to the Suntreso and Komfo Anokye Teaching hospitals (KATH), Mr James Bukari Basintale, MTN General Manager for the Northern Business District, said the continuous increase in population, coupled with growing healthcare needs had given cause to the provision of adequate infrastructure to support the increasing population of the various regions.

Mr Basintale hinted that since its establishment in 2007, the foundation had invested about GH¢13,000,000 in development projects in health, education and economic empowerment nationwide.

He said as a leading telecommunication service provider, “we will continue to invest in cutting edge technology to ensure we provide our customers with the delivery of innovative and bold digital solutions, which will brighten the lives of our customers.”

Dr Kwabena Opoku-Aduse, Medical Superintendent of the Suntreso Hospital and Dr Antwi Kusi, Medical Officer at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), who received the equipment for their hospitals expressed their appreciation to the foundation for its social commitment towards the promotion of quality healthcare and education in the country.
