"Methodist Girls' Senior High School student died from Meningitis" - Father

The father of a final year Methodist Girls' Senior High School (SHS) student who died last Friday (July 17, 2020) has disclosed that his daughter lost her life to Meningitis.

The deceased, Ms Cindy Aku Sika Addo, a General Arts student died a day after she was transferred to the Koforidua government hospital after being diagnosed with acute malaria at the Koforidua Regional hospital.

Speaking in an interview today, Mr Alex Addo said medical experts have now concluded that she was afflicted by Meningitis.
"The medical experts say it's Meningitis. According to the school it started on Thursday and Friday they took her to the hospital... It's hard, it's hard," Mr Addo said in an interview on Joy FM.
Background

A statement issued by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Sunday [July 19, 2020] said the management of the school quickly rushed Ms Addo to the Tetteh Quarshie Hospital at Mampong around 11 pm  on Thursday, July 16, 2020 when her friends detected that she was not well.
The statement said the deceased’s parents were immediately informed and they went to the hospital to see her, adding that Ms Addo was later referred to the Koforidua Regional hospital where was diagnosed with acute malaria.
According to the GES, Ms Addo died a day after she was transferred to the Koforidua government hospital.
