Merging Mites Foundation renovates Bukunor M/A basic school
The Merging Mites Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with focus on education and health, has renovated and painted Bukunor M/A basic school in the Yilo Krobo District in the Eastern Region.
Until the refurbishment, the school, comprising nine classrooms, was in a deplorable state.

The kindergarten block, for instance, was given a new look with art paintings aimed at encouraging the visual impressions of the children as well as stimulating their desire to learn names of objects, animals, shapes and colours.
The Executive Director of the NGO, Ms Dorcas Yaa Mensah with other directors of the NGO, including Mr Anthony Eghan and Mr Austin Amevor Kabutey expressed happiness about the project.
She said the project was started on June 22, this year and was completed on June 27, 2020.
Ms Mensah said “Our line of activities are organising health screening exercises, renovating and painting schools and provision of furniture and learning materials for schools in deprived villages.”
She said the NGO would continue to mobilise resources to help deprived communities in the areas of health and education such as renovating deplorable schools in less privileged communities.

She noted that it was important that children in deprived communities are given the safe and enabling environment to learn as their counterparts in the cities.
Ms Mensah has therefore called on donour organisations to support the NGO so that they would be able to reach out to many deprived schools in less privileged communities in the Eastern Region and in the country as a whole.

The Headmistress of the school, Madam Gloria Tetteh, commended Merging Mites Foundation for the gesture, noting that the renovated school would encourage pupils to attend school as well as improve teaching and learning in the school.
