He tasked them not to relent in their efforts to maintain a peaceful community.

Mr Badu made the commendation during a donation of food items to the chiefs and people of Nungua by the assembly towards the celebration of this year's Homowo Festival.

According to Mr Tawiah, the peace in Nungua had created a good environment for business and co-habitation.

Reacting to rumours that donated items do not get to the appropriate quarters, he said measures had been put in place to ensure that every quarter would get what it deserved.

Receiving the items on behalf of the chiefs and people of Nungua, the Noyaa Mantse, Nii Odai Kwei II, expressed their gratitude to the assembly and commended it for their efforts.

Republic Day

As part of activities marking the commemoration of this year's Republic Day, the assembly also visited and donated items to the aged on admission at the LEKMA Hospital. The items included beverages and biscuits.

Mr Tawiah interacted with the aged and indicated that the assembly would set up a recreational centre for them within the municipality.

Smoke out criminals

In a related development, the Kpeshie Divisional Commander of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Victor Gyan-Kyereko, has called on residents to have confidence in the police and assist them to smoke out criminals within the municipality.

He made this known when the assembly donated 10 car tyres, 65 bags of rice and cooking oil to the Kpeshie Divisional Command and the Muslim community in the municipality.

He appealed to the assembly to fix deplorable roads in the municipality, as these roads hindered effective policing and patrol duties, especially when distress calls had been made to the police.

Receiving the items on behalf of the Muslim community, the Chief Imam of the Nungua Central Mosque, Alhaji Mohammed Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the MCE and the assembly.
