The Ada Traditional Council on Saturday installed the Group Chairman of the MC Dan Group of Companies Dr Daniel McKorley, as Development of Chief of Ada, in the Greater Accra Region.

Dr McKorley, a native of Ada was installed under the stool name Nene Koranteng Kabu I at the 80th Ada Asafotufiami held at the Ada Presbyterian Park.

His installation ceremony involved a mix of traditional and Christian prayers before he was adorned with a brightly coloured kente cloth.

In his acceptance message Nene Koranteng Kabu I promised to single-handedly construct a palace for the Paramount Chief of Ada Traditional Area and President of the Ada Traditional Council, Djetse Abram Kabu Akuaku III.

The construction of the said Palace had earlier been earmarked as one of the two main projects for the festival because the Ada State has existed for over 400 years without one.

Nene Koranteng Kabu I thanked the people of Ada for the honour and pledged to support various educational projects in the community.

He said: "I want Ada to produce intelligent students and I will make sure that I raise Ada education to another level.

"I need your support to keep the environment clean and I will respect the people of Ada and will serve you with all my heart as one of you".

The 80th Ada Asafotufiami was held under the theme: Peace and Unity as a tool for Socio-Economic Transformation of Ada Traditional Area.

Dignitaries present at the durbar grounds included former President Jerry John Rawlings, Council of State Member, Honourable Dr Nii Kotey Dzani, Deputy Interior Minister, Henry Quartey and MP of the Ada Constituency, Honourable Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah.
