Man fined GH¢120 for stealing GH¢10 Cassava
The theft of two bunches of cassava valued at GH¢10 has landed jobless Kwaku Appiah in trouble.

Appiah, 20, will serve 30 days in prison if he defaults in paying the fine of GH¢120 imposed on him by the Agona Swedru District Magistrate Court, presided over by Mr Kweku Baah Frempong.
Appiah blamed his action on severe hunger.
But the magistrate asked him: “Why didn’t you use those arms and hands with which you stole to weed and plant some for yourself instead of stealing from other people’s farms?”
He accordingly proceeded to convict Appiah.
The facts, according to Sergeant Maxwell Boadu, were that the complainant, Kofi Badu is a farmer based at Agona Kwaman where Appiah also lived.
He said on December 3, 2013, Badu, accompanied by his wife and four other people, went to his farm at Framase, near Kwaman.
According to the prosecutor,while they were weeding Badu, and his wife had information about Appiah’s presence on their cassava plantation not far from where they were.
He said Badu and the four others assisting him on the farm went there and caught Appiah red-handed.
According to Sgt. Boadu, Badu, with the assistance of the four other men, arrested Appiah and escorted him(with the cassava) to the Bobikuma Police station where he admitted committing the offence in his statement.
