The pressure group at a press conference at the Obra Spot in Accra Tuesday morning, described President Mahama as “opportunistic,” with a government that was killing Ghanaians.

According to the Chairman of AFAG, Dr Nana Ayew Afriyie, they will gather their members and Ghanaians to demonstrate against government on November 6 since government was not being transparent and decisive.

“It is the belief of this group that we have an opportunistic government in office. We are fighting against incompetence and indecision. We are fighting against the lack of transparency and accountability, the demonstration is premised on two things, corruption and hardships.”

Dr Afriyie said the NDC government led by President Mahama were “killing” Ghanaians.

He said the demonstration was being themed, “Aagbe wɔ” – meaning “we are being killed.”

“Because of corruption, you and myself have been deprived of resources that belong to the common goal. The President is an opportunistic president and for that matter his government is an opportunistic one,” he said.

“The interchange out there, when we are struggling, the cost of this project originally is €46million but we are being made to understand it’s €78million. The approved and new interchange at Kasoa to cost $174million whilst the experts say it cost only $32million, mass corruption all over.”

“When AFAG asked them to reduce the cost of fuel prices in this country two weeks ago, barely two days after, they reduced by two per cent, that’s an insult,” Dr Afriyie said.
