The award was presented to the minister at the fifth edition of the Heroes Awards by the West Africa International Magazine for her contribution towards the peace and development of two regions she had headed.

Ms Ntoso was acknowledged for helping resolve a 20 year dispute in the Akuapim Traditional Area of the Eastern Region while she was regional minister and also bringing together chiefs of Alavanyo and Nkonya to smoke the peace pipe after a 92-year land dispute.

Ms Ntoso who was also guest speaker at the event in her address dedicated the award to disadvantaged women in the society with the hope that her story as a woman from a humble beginning and working hard to better the life of people would encourage more women to take up leadership roles.

She also called for partnership between government and private institutions to solve the socio-economic problems in the country.

She said development was a shared responsibility; therefore such a strong collaboration would help eliminate poverty in the society.

The West Africa International Magazine has for the past five years honoured deserving corporate bodies across the sub-region for their hard work and service to the industries they represent.

The Heroes of 2015 Awards saw the honour of 18 corporate bodies and individuals which included Dr. Joyce Aryee, Executive Director of the Salt and Light Ministry, and a former CEO, Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ideal College, Frimps Oil Company Limited and Dumpong Rural Bank.
