Madonna Health Service gets support

A Ghanaian philanthropist based in UK, Mr Charles Dominic Kwadwo Amankwaah,  has donated assorted items  and also paid for the insurance premium valued at GH¢63,000  for 132 less-privileged people in  Abuakwa– Asenemaso  in the Ashanti Region.

The donation was made to Madonna Health Service.

The items include 22 bags of rice; loaves of bread, assorted medicines, 40 sets of bed sheets and baby cots.

He paid the National Health Insurance (NHIS) premium of 88 widows and 24 orphans.

Presenting the items, Mr Amankwaah suggested that a day or a week be set aside by the nation to observe widows and orphans day just as Valentine Day is celebrated to express love to people.

He said widows, orphans and other marginalised people were going through hardships and needed urgent attention.

Mr Amankwa said he was  motivated by his personal experience when he got injured and was hospitalised for 54 days at Samreboi in the Western Region.

He said for 39 years now his organisation had been presenting items to hospitals at Bibiani, Afari, Gbefe, Prestia, Korle  Bu  Teaching Hospital and homes for orphans, widows and the needy.

The Chief Executives Officer of Madonna Health Service at Abuakwa – Asenemaso, Dr Mary Sagoe, who received the assorted medicines, said the donation came at the right time because some patients were unable to afford the cost of medicines prescribed to them.
