Lante Dzan We celebrates Homowo
The Lante Dzan We Clan, a division of the Asere Kotopon quarters of the Ga State, ushered in the celebration of the annual Homowo Festival last Saturday.

The celebration saw the sprinkling of ‘kpoikpoi’ the traditional homowo dish by the chiefs, the pouring of libation, traditional drumming and dancing, a reunion of family members and general merry-making.
There were also the firing of muskets and singing and dancing to Ga traditional songs.
The Chief of the Lante Dzan We, Nii Lantei Otanka II, explained that the sprinkling of ‘kpoikpoi’ was an activity performed to show gratitude to the gods and ancestors for a bountiful harvest and also ask for blessings in the years ahead.
He called on the people of the Ga Traditional State to unite and asked them to emulate the Lante Dzan We Clan which had installed a leader without dispute.
“Every Ga citizen is worried about the conflict caused by the installation of two chiefs in some of the Ga traditional states,” he lamented.
Nii Otanka expressed the hope that the people would settle their differences and focus more on moving the Ga State forward.
Fund
Speaking with the Daily Graphic, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Odododiodoo, Nii Lante Vanderpuije, said an endowment fund had been established to be used to rebuild the traditional home of the Lante Dzan We Clan.
He donated GHc10,000 to the fund and called on philanthropists and other individuals to contribute to rebuild the traditional home of the clan.
“The traditional home of the Lante Dzan We Clan no longer befitts its status as the foremost clan in the Ga traditional state. Let’s all contribute whatever amount to see to it that a new structure is built for the clan from next year,” he said.
Addressing the people, the (MP) commended them for a peaceful Homowo and expressed the hope that next year’s celebration would even be better.
