In an acceptance speech, Ms Sowah said under her tenure, “the La township will experience massive development, with every household being provided with a toilet facility to help improve upon the sanitation situation in the municipality”.

She was confirmed as the New Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the La-Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) by members of the Assembly last Friday.

She polled 100 per cent of the votes cast by the 15 assembly members from the municipality.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Alexander Poku Akubia, declared Ms Sowah as the confirmed Municipal Chief Executive of the La-Dadekotopon Assembly.

Ms Sowah called for unity among the various factions who supported others for the MCE position, stressing that the task ahead was a very difficult one and she needed the support of all the people of La in order to equitably distribute the resources in the municipality.

She asserted that her confirmation was a victory for La-Dadekotopon and added that the assembly would continue to focus on the improvement of education, sanitation and health.

She said the assembly had enjoyed  the co-operation of the members of the La Traditional Council and appealed to all the staff and members of the assembly to support the development of the area.

“I will do my best to collaborate with all stakeholders, especially the traditional leaders, to build Dadekotopon for future generations,” she said.

According to her, she will ensure that the “Better Ghana Agenda” will be lifted to greater heights as President John Dramani Mahama promised in his campaign messages.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Ernest Debrah, congratulated the  MCE and members of the assembly on the peaceful conduct of the election and urged them to work hard and improve the lot of the good people of La.

He urged the staff and assembly members to rally behind the President and the MCE in order to attain the goals of the “Better Ghana Agenda.”
