Kessben sets up television station for Methodist Church

The Methodist Church Ghana has commended the Chief Executive Officer ( CEO) of Kessben Group of Companies, Mr Stephen Kwabena Kesse Boateng popularly known as Kessben, for single-handedly establishing a television station for the church.

The television station, known as Wesleyan Television (WTV) is to help the church propagate the gospel.

In appreciation of his effort, the church has honoured Mr Boateng by presenting him with a shield and a citation at the inauguration of the TV station at Old Tafo, Kumasi, in the Ashanti Region.

Citation

The citation espoused Mr Boateng’s contribution to the church’s effort to spread the gospel, for supporting the church to spread its tentacles as well as for his valuable financial support.

"We recount with joy and appreciation the large number of chapels, manses, pavilions, vehicles and other church articles and equipment you have graciously donated to the church at various levels not to mention the thousands of bags of cement in support of various church projects among which is the Methodist Retreat Centre at Wawase.

"We continually hear and read reports of Circuits, Societies, church organisations, ministers and individual members of the church who have benefited from your financial support.

"We are also aware that many of our church members are meaningfully employed through the various avenues of employment you have created. The singular act of magnanimity and very significant contributions to the growth and development of the church deserve recognition,” the citation said.

A number of the top brass of the church, including Most Rev. Dr Paul Boafo (Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana), Brother Bernard C.K. Botwe ( Lay Presiding) and Rt Rev. Michael A. Bossom (Administrative Bishop), were present at the ceremony.

Kessben

Mr Kesse, who is also a member of the Methodist Church, for his part, thanked the church for its appreciation and recognition for his efforts and stressed that all were done through the grace of God.

He noted that after the demise of his mother, Madam Elizabeth Osei, aka Adwoa Dufie, who was a devoted Methodist, decided to establish a television station for the Methodist Church Ghana in her memory.

Mr Kesse said his dream became possible following the imput of the then Head Minister of the Ebenezer Methodist Church at Bantama, Rt. Rev. Aaron Charles Ekuban, his family as well as Rt. Rev. Andam, the Kumasi Bishop of the Methodist Church.

Well known in Kumasi for his success in setting up businesses in the electronic media industry in the Ashanti Region, Kessben noted that having had Kessben Television and Aseda Television he thought it prudent to establish that TV station to help propagate the gospel so as to reach out to all people in order for them to know Christ and for their lives to be transformed.

He said: " I don't take credit but it is the Lord Almighty who has put me at that level", quoting Mathew 28:19: "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations baptising them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
