Kasoa District court is 'a terrible place' - Chief Justice bemoans

The Chief Justice, Ms Sophia Akuffo has bemoaned the state of the Kasoa District Court, describing it as "a terrible place."

Ms Akuffo has therefore, threatened to close down all courts which are not "purposely designed for staff of the judiciary" by the end of this year.

"There will be so many closures of courts by the end of this year," she said.

Justice Sophia Akuffo said this when visited the court Kasoa District court on Monday July 9, 2018 as part of her four-day tour of the Central Region.

The presiding Magistrate of the Court, Felicia Gandezi stunned the Chief Justice and her entourage, when, in demonstrating challenges confronting the court, drew a chamber pot she uses as a place of convenience.

Under the Local Government Act 462, Assemblies must provide the court structure.

The stunned Chief Justice then said "this is totally unacceptable."
