IGP places Ghc10,000 bounty on Lapaz police killers

The police have placed a Ghc10,000 bounty on the two suspects who shot and killed a police officer and injured another one at Lapaz in Accra on Thursday.

According to the Inspector General of Police, Mr David Asante Apeatu, anyone who provides information leading to the arrest of the two suspects would be given the bounty.

The IGP made this known Friday morning at the Kaneshie Divisional headquarters.

The two police officers were shot by two unidentified men who were on an unregistered motorbike.

Reports said the two men were on a robbery operation.

“Unfortunately, one of the police personnel passed on while receiving treatment but the second is in a stable condition,” a press statement issued and signed by Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Effia Tenge said.

To facilitate their movement, the assailants abandoned their motorbike, snatched an unregistered ash Hyundai Elantra saloon vehicle and sped off towards the Mallam junction direction.
