ICGC women's wing holds conference

The  women’s wing of the Kumasi District of the International Central Gospel Church (ICGC), known as the Precious Vessels of  Virtue, is committed to assisting Christian women to develop their spiritual and moral values and as well as the organisation of conferences  to empower them economically.

Opening a five-day conference organised by the group at  Pakyi No1 in the Ashanti Region, the president, Mrs Millicent Abu-Baidoo, urged Christian women to lead meaningful lives and make positive contributions to the lives of the present and future generation.

The conference, the second of its kind, is being attended by 600 participants drawn from the various branches of the church in the Ashanti, Brong  Ahafo, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions on the theme “ Worship: Our Service. Our Sacrifice”. The 2012 conference attracted 350 participants.

Among the topics being treated are; “Saved to serve”, “The woman God uses”, “Purity, a precious virtue”, “Dressing and grooming” and “Inculcating the virtue of purity in our generation: The role of the Christian woman”.

In an address, Mrs Abu-Baidoo said the decision to bring women in the Christian community together was motivated by an advice from the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Mensah Otabil, who maintained that as women there was the need  for them to worship God not only through songs, but also with their services and sacrifices, adding that, “by the time we leave this conference, we should be spiritually empowered to offer profitable services in all spheres of life”

She said as mothers, they should train their children to be service-oriented who would offer selfless service to their employers, businesses, the church as well as the community and the entire nation.

In her  address, a senior pastor of the Takoradi District of the ICGC, Mrs Patience Addai, said proper worshipping should not only be limited to church premises but anywhere they found themselves, explaining that God was everywhere  and not confined to the church’s premises or areas Christians converged.

She said true worship  was also  meant to acknowledge God  as well as  His powers and glory in everything we did , saying “ the highest form of praise and worship is obedience to Him and His Word.
