A man the police have paraded as a key suspect in Tuesday’s ‘Rambo-style’ daylight robbery at Royal Motors in Accra, has denied being a robber altogether.

Salami Osman, 35, when he was paraded by the police on Friday afternoon together with other arrested suspects rained curses on the police for accusing him falsely, reports Graphic Online’s Emelia Ennin Abbey.

He cursed the police for “the allegation’ and “arresting an innocent man” without “carrying out proper investigations.”

Briefing journalists, the Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr George Alex Mensah said the arrest of Salami was a major breakthrough for the police who have been pursuing the suspected robbers since the incident on February 27, 2018.

He said Salami was part of the four armed men who attacked and robbed Royal Motors Company in Accra on Tuesday and added that he was arrested at Ashalaja, near Amasaman through police intelligence.

The Toyota Camry which was snatched from the driver who was shot by the robbery suspects has also been retrieved.

Emelia Abbey Ennin reported that Salami would not stop cursing despite the persistence of police personnel and investigators to get him to shut his mouth when he was paraded.

What can you do to me, I have not done anything, I will never rob for anything, why would I rob when I can work. You are just embarrassing me by bringing these journalists here to capture my image as a criminal when I am not one, God will punish all of you, he said while the police led him together with two other suspects into one of the interrogation rooms.
