Mrs Adinyira, who is a Human Resource practitioner at A/L Mining Company, polled 14 votes out of the 42 cast by assembly members present and voting, representing 33 per cent of the votes cast last Tuesday.

She needed two-third of the support of assembly members, being 28 votes, to become the first female MCE of the municipality but unfortunately she failed the test as the two-third rather voted against her. There was no spoilt ballot.

In an address, the Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Francis Ganyaglo, expressed unhapiness that the wish of the people, especially women, to have a dynamic leader to champion their cause for progress and development had been foiled.

The election was conducted by officials of the Electoral Commission of the Ho Municipality.
