Hertz Ghana, a car rental company, has pledged to support Zuriel Oduwole, a 12-year-old girl-child education campaigner, with transportation during her campaign tour in Ghana and other parts of the world.
Ms Zuriel is embarking on a project dubbed "Dream up, speak up and stand up" (DUSUSU), aimed at encouraging girls to dream big and stand tall in all aspects of life.
Addressing the press at a ceremony to announce the sponsorship, Miss Queeneth Wodu, the Country Manager for Hertz, said the company was proud to associate itself with the good works of Zuriel.
She said Zuriel used her project to show leaders and parents the importance of girl-child education and had been able to accomplish a lot.
She described her as an outstanding and remarkable young woman who had chalked up a lot of success at her young age.
“We are willing to give her as much support as necessary to help her realise her vision,” she said.
Mr Kalu O. Kalu, the General Manager of Hertz Ghana, said as a global brand, Hertz supported projects, especially those that were geared towards education.
He said apart from providing Zuriel with transportation needs for her campaign, the company would also identify itself with the good work that she had been doing.
According to Mr Kalu, the company would go round the world with her, be part of her educational campaign and help her tell people about her dream.
Ms Zuriel thanked Hertz Ghana for the support and said the gesture would assist her to reach out to more young girls who were of school age but lacked the necessary support and encouragement.
So far, Ms Zuriel Oduwole has spoken to 21,000 children in nine different countries in Africa about the importance of education.
