The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has urged contractors working on the La General Hospital project to accelerate the pace of work.
During an inspection of the project, the Minister said, "We can speed up so that we can beat the deadline." He acknowledged significant progress but challenged the contractors to speed up.
He dismissed payment delays as an excuse for slow progress, stressing that government had been paying contractors on time. He noted that the latest interim payment certificate has been submitted and forwarded to the Ministry of Finance.

Mr Akandoh also called for a review of the proposed emergency department capacity to ensure it meets the hospital's needs and helps address challenges with emergency bed availability.
