The Ghana Hajj Agents Association has elected Alhaji Issah Umar Suleiman as its new chairman to steer the affairs of the organisation for the next two years.
In the keenly contested election held in Accra, the association also elected Alhaji Inusah Amadu as its vice chairman.
The new chairman called on prospective Hajj pilgrims to pay their Hajj fares through only accredited hajj agents for their documents to be processed early.
At a short ceremony after the election, Alhaji Issah Suleiman promised to assist the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana to eliminate fraudulent and unaccredited agents from the system to ensure sanity.
“We need to have sanity and discipline in the organisation of hajj in this country so that Muslims can have relief when embarking on the pilgrimage,” he said.
He thanked the chairman of the newly established Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana, Alhaji Abdul Rauf Ibrahim, and the Office of the National Chief Imam for their support for the agents association.
“I commend the pilgrims’ office of Ghana and the Office of the National Chief Imam for their help and guidance during the difficult periods of organising for Hajj”.
Alhaji Issah Suleiman pledged that the association would support the Pilgrims Affairs Office to organise an incident-free Hajj.
Other executive members elected at the ceremony included Alhaji Sumaila Tanko as secretary and Usman Mohammed Chogu as treasurer.
Alhaji Alhassan Ansariya is the new Public Relations Officer with Alhaji Maisar Usman as his assistant, while Alhaji Abdallah Tijani is the porter.
The rest are Alhaji Mustapha Dauda; Alhaji Gariba Ibrahim and Alhaji Manaf Ibrahim.
Accredited Hajj agencies
The accredited hajj agencies in Ghana are Masfala, Al-Balad, UMTA, WAMTA, Al Muharam, Manugah and Ansaar.
Others are Ansariya, NBE, Dapore, MTA, Choggu, Labbaika, Danwana, Dogomba Boy and Al Qibla.
The rest are Al Waziri, Tofa, Mende, Great Anyars, Al Ifada and Zabora.
