GOIL honours past Board Chairman

THE Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL), the premier indigenous oil marketing company in Ghana has honoured one of its past Board Chairperson but impressive ceremony in Accra.

A delegation led by the current Board Chairman, Prof. William Asumaning and the Managing Director, Mr Patrick A.K. Akorli, expressed great appreciation to the efforts made by Mr Baah to resist the outright sale of the company in 1997.

A citation read on behalf of the management appreciated the key accomplishments and decisions taken by the Board during Mr Baah’s tenure as chairman.

“You, from your exalted position saw the potential inherent in GOIL, and stood strongly by your convictions in resisting the intended disposal. Today, your position has been vindicated, with GOIL widely accepted as the oil marketing companies of choice for many Ghanaians.

 

“Principally for the above reasons, but most importantly for a job well done, GOIL is desirous of placing it on record, its appreciation for the role you have played in helping to build the company over the years,” the citation added.

In his acceptance message, Mr Baah expressed appreciation of the gesture from GOIL and recounted his appointment as Board Chairman in 1997, at the time that the company was on its way to be disposed of.

“I am really touched by your gesture. I never knew somebody at GOIL was keeping the records and has remembered how we toiled in 1997 to resist the sale of GOIL; and today GOIL is widely accepted as the number one oil marketing companies in Ghana,” he said.
