With the signing of the agreement on the premises of the Trinity  Theological Seminary in Accra, the GTS will come under the tutelage and mentorship of the TTS until it gets its charter.

Also at the function to sign a similar agreement of affiliation with the TTS was the Emmanuel University College (EUC), which runs the School of Divinity and Christian Leadership as its flagship programme.

Those present at the brief ceremony included Rev. Dr J.O.Y. Mante, President of the Trinity Theological Seminary, some faculty members of the TTS, including Rev. Prof. Joseph M.Y. Edusa-Eyison, Vice-President (Academic); Rev. Canon George K. Neequaye, Vice-President (Administration);  and Rev. Charles R. A. Tandoh, Director of Administration.

Others were Rev. Prince Y. Tefe, Synod Clerk of the Global Evangelical Church (GEC); Rev. Dr Christian F. W. Gbekor, Rector of the GTS; Rev. Dr Michael K.  Alotteh, Dean of Students, GTS; and Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning, President of the Emmanuel University College.

Rev. Dr Mante said as a chartered institution, the seminary had been in partnership with and in the process of mentoring other theological colleges and seminaries.

“I am very happy to receive these two institutions into partnership with the Trinity Theological Seminary and we intend to do our best to nurture these institutions so that they will also become chartered institutions and be on their own,” he said.

He said the TTS was a well-renowned institution that would not compromise or lower its high academic standards, adding: “We will always insist that the right things are done and best practices are maintained.”

Rev. Dr Mante urged the two institutions to aim high and give their best, develop faster and grow stronger as Christian institutions of learning, where pastors would be well trained and equipped for ministry.

The Global Theological Seminary was started in 1991 by the Global Evangelical Church (GEC) to meet the urgent need for pastors to serve its numerous congregations nationwide.

The mission of the Global Theological Seminary is to equip saints and produce theologically sound Christian leaders who would exhibit godliness, and excellence and mentor those they lead.

The Rector of the GTS, Rev. Dr Christian Gbekor, said it was a “historic day” and of great excitement for them because the journey towards accreditation was getting to its fruition.

He gave an assurance that they would not lower the standards but keep up the pace and work hard to attain the heights the GTS was required to reach.

He added that the Trinity Theological Seminary had a lot of potential that needed to be tapped and expressed the hope that the partnership would go beyond what was on paper for their mutual benefits.

Mr Moses Foh-Amoaning, President of the Emmanuel University College, said they would learn from the TTS, share their experiences and do everything to meet the standards of the partnership which he believed would last.

He said the university college was established in 2009 and was poised to train great leaders not only for Ghana and Africa but the world; people who would influence the world rightly with the knowledge of God.

Students of Global Theological Seminary and Trinity Theological Seminary were also at the ceremony.
