Establish fund to develop institution - Ato Forson tasks UPSA alumni
Former Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Cassiel Ato Forson, has tasked the newly elected executive of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Alumni Association to set up an endowment fund to develop the institution.
He said the new leadership needed to be resolute in their objectives and allow their activities to support the progress of the institution.

Mr Ato Forson was speaking at the alumni dinner and handing over ceremony in Accra.
The ceremony brought together more than 200 past students, including management and the teaching faculty.

A customised plaque was presented to Mr Ato Forson for his contribution to the financial administration and governance.
The First Vice Chancellor of the UPSA, Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I, who chaired the event, was also honoured for his special in raising the status of the university.
Ghanaian afropop, dancehall and reggae artiste, Livingstone Etse Satekla, known in showbiz cycle as Stonebwoy, also an alumni, was recognised for his contribution to Ghana’s entertainment industry.
Mr Ato Forson, speaking on the theme: “The role of alumni in university governance and development,” urged each alumnus to contribute his or her quota to their alma mater, thus fulfil their corporate social responsibility.
New executive
The new executive members are the President, Mukaila Abdallah; the first vice president, Timothy Zilevu; the second vice president, Gifty Ama Amoah; the financial controller, Vincent Yao Dzalu; the organiser, Hussein Alhassan and the secretary, Lucy Attram. They are to steer the affairs of the association for a four-year period.
The outgoing president of the association, Dr Kwaku Mensah Mawutor, charged the new executive to continue the good work of their predecessors.
He recounted some of his success stories as improvement in the data of the alumni, as well as an increment in the membership of the association.
“Now we have a full data of all students who exited the institution years ago. Our numbers have also increased from 17 to over 10,000 members and we are still urging the new administration to do well to double the numbers,” he added.
He urged the new executive to ensure the construction of the 1,500-capacity hostel facility as initiated by his administration.
President
The president of the UPSA Alumni Association, Mounkeilla Abdullai, commended the association for the confidence reposed in him and promised to perform beyond expectation.
Nene Adamtey I commended the association for the honour done him and urged the new executive to expand the vision of the association, as well as the institution.
“Let us do well and take the association to another level.
Let's expand the vision and build on the legacies of the old executive to rebrand ourselves to attract more members who seem afar,” he said.
