The trust gave GH¢20,000 for the construction of a medical laboratory and theatre facility in Sekyere Kumawu in the Ashanti Region, GH¢20,000 through Christian Rural Aid Network (CRAN) for the provision of polytanks and equipment for a water harvesting project at Shama in the Central Region and GH¢13,338 for the completion of a training facility unit which would provide vocational training to students at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

The three organisations involved in the projects were Ananda Marga Society in the Ejura Sekyere Dumase District in the Ashanti Region, the Christian Rural Aid Network in Cape Coast in the Central Region and the Sekyere Fund Raising Development Committee in Sekyere Kumawu, also in the Ashanti Region.

The Ghanaman CRG Trust Fund was established with support from the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) in 2009 to reinvest pledged repayments of USADF grants into community development projects in Ghana.

The overall strategic objective of the Ghanaman CRG Trust Fund is to promote sustainable community poverty reduction and economic growth and to support local, social and economic development activities.

Mr Eric Asae, Chairman of Ghanaman CRG Trust Fund, said the trust had supported projects which sought to improve the lives of people in deprived communities, especially in the rural areas.

He commended the beneficiaries for their effort to take the initiative to develop their respective areas through community development projects, and urged them to make appropriate use of the funds at their disposal.

Mr Joseph Quaye, Head of Global Standard Consulting, the administrator of the t5rust, encouraged the beneficiaries to relay information about this opportunity to other community-based NGOs since application for the grants were accepted throughout the year.

Since its inception, the Trust had made five calls for project proposals and awarded grants to 12 community-based projects totaling GH¢178,036. The trust focuses on health, education and income-generating activities for women and other marginalised groups.
