A ban on the export of eggs from Ghana to Burkina Faso has been lifted, the Ministry of Trade and Agribusiness has announced.
Additionally, the restriction on the import of tomatoes from Burkina Faso into Ghana has also been lifted, thereby boosting bilateral trade between the two countries.
This followed an engagement with Burkinabe authorities.
In a statement, the Ministry of Trade Agribusiness and Industry explained that the restrictions on egg exports from Ghana, particularly those originating from Dormaa in the Bono Region, had been imposed by Burkinabe authorities as a precautionary measure in response to quality issues in some exporting countries.
The two sides also called for the establishment of a Joint Technical Committee to ensure smooth bilateral trade and address future issues as a matter of urgency.
Both countries have also agreed to have a Bilateral Trade Agreement to strengthen trade relations, reduce barriers, and improve market access for goods and services.
On Ghana's participation in this year's International Arts and Crafts Trade Fair in Burkina Faso, the sector minister, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare has informed Burkinabe authorities that Ghana would present a high-level delegation with products and services made in Ghana.
