Ghana Red Cross Society elects new President

The Ghana Red Cross Society has elected Dr Michael Agyekum-Addo as its new President.

Dr Agyekum-Addo, who is the  founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Kama Group Ltd, was elected president at the society’s general assembly.

A statement issued by the society in Accra named other persons elected for a two-year term as Dr Jacob Abebrese, Medical Director, Sunyani Regional Hospital, Vice-President;  Lawyer John Louis Neizer, Legal Advisor; Mr Emmanuel Djan Ashley, Ghana Audit Service, Treasurer; Mrs Elizabeth Hayfron Asare, Public Relations Advisor:  Mrs Theresa Nobiya, Health Advisor; and Mr Thomas Kwasi Darkey, Youth Representative.

It said the society also used the occasion to honour its past presidents and vice-presidents with citations for their distinguished leadership.

It said it was unanimously agreed to incorporate past executives as ex-officio members on the executive in order to tap into their rich experiences and expertise.

In a related development, in a communique issued at the end of the assembly, the society called on its partners to collaborate and consolidate their efforts towards promoting the country’s development.

It pledged to continue to promote tolerance and mutual respect within Ghana and called on all Ghanaians to join hands in keeping the peace.
