Ghana Red Cross receives assistance for building project
The Red Crescent of Iran is supporting the Ghana Red Cross Society with $95,000 to build its office complex in Accra. The amount is to be used to complete the ground floor of a four-storey structure being built by the Ghana Red Cross at a cost of $345,000.

Presenting a cheque for $25,000 to the President of the Ghana Red Cross Society, Dr Michael Agyekum Addo, in Accra, the Medical Director of Iran Clinic, Dr Masoud Maleki Birjandi, said Red Cross societies all over the world were geared towards humanitarian service.
He said the Iran Clinic located in Accra had been operating in Ghana under the auspices of the Iranian Red Crescent. Dr Birjandi said in pursuance of its humanitarian assistance, the Iranian Red Crescent was helping the Ghana Red Cross complete its new office complex.
So far, the present donation to the Ghana Red Cross brings its support to a total amount of $80,000 for that purpose. He pledged the Iran Red Crescent’s readiness to partner with the Ministry of Health in the areas of first aid and primary healthcare education.

Dr Agyekum Addo, who received the cheque, commended the Iranian Red Crescent for its generous support.
He said the time had come to develop the Red Cross in Ghana, saying the Red Crescent in Iran was way ahead of its Ghanaian counterpart in terms of living up to its mandate of providing humanitarian services to people in need.
Dr Agyekum Addo expressed the hope that the current partnership established between the two Red Cross societies would help in developing the Ghana Red Cross to live up to its expectations.
He said in the near future, the Ghana Red Cross would create a platform where people could bring items that they did not need so that they could be sold in support of the society’s work.
